Well today looks like a lovely day already....the sun is shining, blue skies above....
Won't you come and join me on a little celebratory journey today?
Well today is my birthday.....
I won't say how old, just let's say a little older than 25 but not old enough
to draw my pension...
Since I started blogging many moons ago I've had many many comments
on my little blog ( 1885 to be precise!),some very caring emails when times have not been so sunny,
met some really lovely people and spent hours and hours browsing other blogs as you do
as well as writing 235 posts and had such a lovely time....
So.....I thought I would share a little about me with you all in return....
I don't often mention me but
every now and again I get asked little snippets and often think I should say a wee bit more
so here goes....
I'm a Cambridgeshire Fen girl who just adores writing
I can sit for hours and hours losing time just scribbling little jots of thoughts down in
one of my many notebooks.
Some times it makes sense, other times guide me through my working work and other snippets
just humour my effervescent brain!
I mind continually wanders on journeys, capturing different scenarios and people.
I write it all down....just in case that next best seller appears?
I am also a very creative soul in other ways,
who is addicted to textures. colours, patterns, fabrics,
buttons, silks, wool, lace, trims, various yarns....the list goes on but I think you get the picture!
I love nothing more than painting and drawing with threads and fabrics creating
with hand embroidery, crazy patchwork, free motion machine embroidery, machine embellishing,
freeform crochet and much more.....
It satisfies my wandering Bohemian spirit as I have no rules, there are no confines and anything goes.
It has taken me years to realise that the reason I never particularly excelled at school
was because of all the restraints when it came to learning.
I hated having to sit still at a desk for hours upon hours copying things off a board.
Don't get me wrong, I was never bottom of the class but only bog standard average you know.....the one that bobs along doing what is asked of her but never really anything spectacular...
The only subjects that I did well in were Art, Needlework, Home Economics and Cookery.....subjects that you could make mistakes or venture into unknown territories and it was classed as being creative!
Although on many of my school reports my Needlework teacher wrote "...should learn to stick to a pattern and finish each process before moving on...."
I'd really love to meet that teacher again and show her my workshop and ask her to visit one of my
craft sessions just to let her see that for me sticking to the rules can be so very boring!
My other love in life is.....
Vintage....anything and everything connected to that word.
I love the fact that anything you buy secondhand albeit from a charity shop or an Auction House
will have a history behind it. Someone somewhere will have cherished it with love, maybe designed and made it or simply admired it from afar.
My other love in life is learning about our past.....
Local and Social History have always been a real passion for me....something
I've learnt more about as I've got older.
I'm not one for airy fairy glamour...no, no, no....
I like to find out about the real lives of a bygone era....warts and all.
What it meant for people living through those times, their memories,
and how we can learn from their told history.
Of course I love so many other things too many to mention
but here are a few....
*Watching films in my PJ's snuggled on my sofa
*Baking a whole host of delicious nibbles
*Watching the sunset showcase it's glorious colours
*Listening to the sea
The list goes on.....and on.....
If you've reached this far in my post...thank you for staying with me!
I hope you've enjoyed reading.....
I have loads and loads I want to share with you lovelies
now I've returned to blogging again
For now, on my happy day I want to leave you with this beautiful video
I came across the other day capturing two of my favourite songs
and there are so many pics in there of the things I love....
It brings a tear to my eye (in a good way) every time I watch it....
have a lovely day folks....
I'm off to have a nibble of my birthday cake!
